Germansushi – Water Lily Table

Starke Foundation, Berlin

2002

A table is set with dark metal bowls in anticipation of a festive meal. The motif of a pond covered in lily pads is subtly projected through five of the bowls onto a trans/ucent acrylic mirror suspended over the table and reflected back onto the tabletop. The mirrors allow part of the light to pass through them and onto the ceiling. The result is a pleasant and exotic Impression accompanied by the sound of the patter of rain and a storm. The sound of the storm, transmitted on the surface of the table, and the absence of guest an ambivalent mood alternating between poetic beauty and threatening apocalypse.
